Usefulness of the Smallest Digital Camera

By Thomas Glover

Which model is actually the smallest digital camera? That is not an easy question to answer. Digital cameras are slowly getting smaller with each new model, some of them down to sizes that would have been totally impossible 15 years ago. The next question would be "Are small digital cameras as viable as standard sized ones?" The answer to that question is a sound yes. Ones that are no longer or bigger than your forefinger and that can fit perfectly into the palm of your hand are as useful as normal sized camera models.

Though small models of today's digital cameras are not as good for professional photography, they are just as viable for your normal pictures as their larger camera alternatives. It is standard in all digital cameras to include focus, zoom, flash and zoom. But best part is that they are not as expensive as larger models. But there is indeed a reason for that fact.

Many of the smallest digital cameras don't have a lot of built-in space to keep pictures, and due to the fact that they are so tiny, you will most likely have to buy a Micro SD card. These are getting cheaper by the year it seems like, so this is not a big issue. What is a problem is that many small digital cameras do not have a built-in screen for you to view the photos that you have taken. This has become a common feature for any normal-sized models so it may be hard to get used to. Not being able to look and see if a picture is just right can result in some bad photographs.

Additionally, some models also do not have the ability to record movies, which is another familiar feature that has come to be standard in digital cameras. This is one thing that truly convinces consumers not to buy many of the smallest digital camera, but if you are not concerned with recording videos then it should be not be a huge set back.

The reality is, these types of cameras are almost a novelty. They are very cute, and it is a surprise that something that is so small can effectively take quality pictures. However, they often get misplaced easily and some of the discount models on retailer's shelves can cease to work if dropped only one time. They are to be used with great care. Losing all of the pictures you have taken on a digital camera can be irritating, if not enraging.

In the end, the smallest digital camera is definitely an inexpensive alternative your standard-sized, multifunctional variation model. They are great if you are buying a camera to carry to take traveling or to give to a family member or friend. So they are nifty items, but if you are really serious about photography then it is probably be best to look for a different type. - 29888
