One of the few reasonably priced digital cameras targeted for the casual or amateur photographer is the Nikon Coolpix L20. The L20 has a high mega pixel resolution and an optical zoom lens with 3.6x magnification. The back panel of the L20 has a three inch LCD screen with anti-reflecting coating and high contrast.

Another feature in the L20 is an EXPEED Image Processor that helps generate sharp, clear pictures in stunning color. The EXPEED feature is custom adjusted for the COOLPIX product line. This feature allows the operator to capture moments, with incredible clarity, quickly and effortlessly. The quick response factor is ideal for capturing stills even during motion activities.

The Coolpix L20 further allows for action stills with its motion detection enhancement. This feature automatically controls the shutter speed and exposure sensitivity (ISO setting) to allow for better performance in low light and at fast speeds. Additionally, it reduces blurry images from the motion of the subject matter or camera vibrations. This ISO setting is adjustable.

For the amateur photographer, some of the adjustments can become burdensome. As such, Nikon also provides an Easy Auto Mode with Scene Auto Selector setting. This lets the digital camera, in this case the L20, automatically select the best settings to produce to optimal digital still capture. The camera adjusts the EXPEDD, ISO settings, and shutter speed depending on the inputs it receives from the object.

This Nikon digital camera also comes with a smart portrait system. This system accomplishes a number fixes and enhancements that helps generate a quality still digital photo. There is an in-camera red eye fix that fixes the red eye effect in the camera. There is also a face priority auto feature that can focus on up to twelve faces in a group picture.

There are a few other automated attributes available in the L20. A Smile Mode, for instance, waits for a smile recognition pattern before snapping the shutter. The shutter also waits for other light and motion adjustments to be made. The camera has a blink warning feature that warns the user if the subject blinks during photo capture.

Lastly, the camera has a D-Lighting feature for enhancing or brightening backlit or dark images. This is done by improving the brightness and contrast settings for enhancing the quality of the image. As such, this camera is ideal for the casual user or traveler. The Nikon Coolpix L20's highly automated process reduces the complexity of operation while producing high quality images at a reasonable price point. - 29888
