The Problems With xD Memory Cards

By Ava Jackson

After releasing the extreme Digital (xD) memory cards back in 2002, Olympus and Fujifilm have struggled to keep up with the advantages of the competition's flash memory card, the Secure Digital.

Technology has continued to evolve, and both companies are finally beginning to slow down on xD card production in favor of the widespread and infinitely more flexible SD format.

Incompatibility Trouble

SD cards have influenced the world over thanks to the fact that they are compatible with so many devices. For example, they are perfect for PDA's, camcorders, and digital cameras to name a few.

The xD, meanwhile, is exclusive to Fujifilm and Olympus digital cameras. Some SD cards can store up to 32 GB of space. The most an xD can handle is 2 GB, which is certainly not enough to power anything near what the SD can offer.

The xD cards also have some bad word of mouth due to their difficulties with compatibility with software and some accessories for cameras. A lot of trouble can come from this, as users who want a simple process will wind up mired in a drawn out mess.

Image Trouble

Digital cameras are meant to record our important life moments so we can relive them after the fact. The most troubling problem that xD card users have experienced is data corruption, and it's happened so often that more than likely every xD card owner will lose their data at least one time in their use, if not more.

Some of the more common activities that will trash your stuff include buttons being pushed in the middle of a camera load, for instance, or removing your card without first turning off your camera.

An SD card isn't an exception to data corruption, but it's mentioned far less often than the xD. Corruption can screw up any camera's output, but the xD's number of complaints is bordering on the legendary.

Difficult Pricing

One of the odd things about the xD is that, considering its corruption problems and compatibility issues, it is far more expensive than the bigger SD cards. You can pick up an Olympus 2 GB xD card from Amazon.com for $17.50, but the SD card of an identical size is only $8.49.

Many customers would change cameras just to capitalize on the price difference even if the xD wasn't as prone to corruption and had more compatibility.

The SD is actually older than the xD -- it originated in'99 -- but it has changed with the times by expanding its storage space and offering more and more compatibility for every type of device in the market today.

As long as SD continues to prosper, it's a no-brainer that Olympus and Fujifilm should forget about the xD and create something new for today's customers. - 29888

Good Cheap Digital Cameras

By Wayne McCornwell

It is not terribly difficult finding inexpensive digital cameras, but as it's such a complicated piece of audiovisual appliances you may want the quality to be reasonable also. Lots of the over-advertised cheap options available have horrible quality and we all require the memories we capture with our cameras to at least be somewhat clear on the photo!

Tips Before you Start the Search
Spend some time chatting to pals and family about their cameras. You could end up getting valuable input from some of them who also looked at inexpensive digital cameras on the market. You have got to figure out precisely what you want the camera for to help you work out what sizes you must look at and if you'll need one with advanced zoom features.

Megapixels
When you decide to go out and take a look at all of the inexpensive digital cameras available you must know what to go looking for. Start by taking a look at paper adverts and online to find a list of shops with great specials and sometimes lower costs than some of the most popular stores. One of the first things to have a look at is the quantity of megapixels the cameras has. The more megapixels, the better the standard of picture the camera will take, but this does not mean you have to aim for a top-of- the-range camera simply because it has so many more megapixels.

Memory Cards
Some companies sell cheap digital cameras, but then you do not receive any of the extra small things you need with the camera. One of these items is a memory card which is inserted into the camera and all your pictures will be stored on it. These cards come in several memory sizes, for example one gb. and up. The more gigs the scale of your card, the more photographs you will be able to take and store. If you're on a budget while hunting for inexpensive digital cameras then you should look for a special deal that includes a memory card. Some bargaining doesn't hurt. If you find a camera you like you need to utilize your bargaining talents and try to get a card thrown into the deal as well!

Warranty and Return
It might be wrong to think all cheap digital cameras are low quality. But because some of them are, you must keep an eye peeled for a store offering some kind of guaranty and return option. Most of the shops will offer you an extended guaranty at a fee - if you take this offer or not is all up to you and your position. The warranty and return always offers a degree of comfort just in case you get home and the camera doesn't work or something goes pear shaped after the initial few snaps! It's no longer necessary to spend all your nest egg on a good camera. The inexpensive digital cameras on the market can do the job just too but whichever model you pick is all up to you. - 29888

Awesome Canon EOS Rebel T1i Digital Camera

By Miranda Watson

Canon's consumer SLR line has a new flagship: the 15.1-megapixel Canon EOS Rebel T1i. Once again, we see a new SLR from Canon in less than' months from the last in a given line. It's actually only eight months since the XS was announced, and about-- since the XSi; either way you look at it, competition has shortened product cycles in the digital SLR space.

Other features come to the Canon T1i from the 50D, including the Peripheral Illumination Correction and multiple noise reduction settings. Auto Lighting Optimizer and Highlight Tone Priority were already brought over with the XSi, but Creative Auto is now included, a unique mode that endeavors to bring creative control to the amateur shooter.

Movie mode comes to the Rebel T1i with quite similar capabilities to the Canon 5D Mark II, though it's highest complete HD resolution is 720p at 30fps. It can capture 1080p videos, but only at 20fps, which isn't technically fully up to spec. Standard 640x480 movies are also available at 30fps. You can manually focus or autofocus via contrast detect by pressing the Canon T1i's rear AE/AF-Lock button.

Controls and body styling are nearly identical (differences are broken down in the User Report below); the main changes are internal. The Canon T1i's new sensor is ever slightly larger at 22.3 x--.9mm compared to the 22.2 x--.8mm measurement of the XSi's sensor, but the bigger change is the new sensor's high ISO capabilities, running from 100 to 3,200, with two expanded settings: 6,400 and 12,800.

Also introduced at the same time is the very small Speedlite 270EX, a new flash that is easy to pocket and gives cameras like the Rebel T1i and the PowerShot G10 an accessory flash that won't threaten to flip these lightweight cameras over. The flash head zooms manually from 28mm to 50mm coverage, and flips up to 90 degrees. Like other EX Speedlites, the 270EX transmits color temperature information to the camera. Power comes from two AA batteries. - 29888

It's actually only eight months since the XS was announced, and about-- since the XSi; either way you look at it, competition has shortened product cycles in the digital SLR space.

Now at the top of the Rebel line, the Canon T1i takes on the Nikon D90, with its video mode, while the XS and XSi are left to challenge the Nikon D40 and D60. With the Rebel T1i, Canon is answering the pincer move that Nikon's put on it in the past few years, now matching them model-to-model at the low end, because the XS and XSi will remain in the lineup.

Movie mode comes to the Rebel T1i with quite similar capabilities to the Canon 5D Mark II, though it's highest complete HD resolution is 720p at 30fps. The Canon Rebel T1i accepts EF and EF-S lenses, and uses SD/SDHC cards, including Eye-Fi wireless cards. The battery is the same as the XSi, and it uses the same battery grip.

Canon's new DIGIC 4 processor handles the larger 4,752 x 3,168 at a slightly reduced speed of 3.4 frames per second (at 1/500 second or greater -- down from the XSi's 3.5 fps), with a maximum JPEG burst of 170 frames or 9 RAW frames. You can also now capture RAW images in all of the Canon T1i's modes, whether Basic or Creative Zone. The Canon T1i's 3-inch LCD is a 640x480 design with 920,000 dots, making for a noticeably sharper onscreen image, great for focusing and confirming sharpness after capture. The Canon T1i is the first Rebel to have such a high-res screen. - 29888

Usefulness of the Smallest Digital Camera

By Thomas Glover

Which model is actually the smallest digital camera? That is not an easy question to answer. Digital cameras are slowly getting smaller with each new model, some of them down to sizes that would have been totally impossible 15 years ago. The next question would be "Are small digital cameras as viable as standard sized ones?" The answer to that question is a sound yes. Ones that are no longer or bigger than your forefinger and that can fit perfectly into the palm of your hand are as useful as normal sized camera models.

Though small models of today's digital cameras are not as good for professional photography, they are just as viable for your normal pictures as their larger camera alternatives. It is standard in all digital cameras to include focus, zoom, flash and zoom. But best part is that they are not as expensive as larger models. But there is indeed a reason for that fact.

Many of the smallest digital cameras don't have a lot of built-in space to keep pictures, and due to the fact that they are so tiny, you will most likely have to buy a Micro SD card. These are getting cheaper by the year it seems like, so this is not a big issue. What is a problem is that many small digital cameras do not have a built-in screen for you to view the photos that you have taken. This has become a common feature for any normal-sized models so it may be hard to get used to. Not being able to look and see if a picture is just right can result in some bad photographs.

Additionally, some models also do not have the ability to record movies, which is another familiar feature that has come to be standard in digital cameras. This is one thing that truly convinces consumers not to buy many of the smallest digital camera, but if you are not concerned with recording videos then it should be not be a huge set back.

The reality is, these types of cameras are almost a novelty. They are very cute, and it is a surprise that something that is so small can effectively take quality pictures. However, they often get misplaced easily and some of the discount models on retailer's shelves can cease to work if dropped only one time. They are to be used with great care. Losing all of the pictures you have taken on a digital camera can be irritating, if not enraging.

In the end, the smallest digital camera is definitely an inexpensive alternative your standard-sized, multifunctional variation model. They are great if you are buying a camera to carry to take traveling or to give to a family member or friend. So they are nifty items, but if you are really serious about photography then it is probably be best to look for a different type. - 29888

Collage Picture Frames Why You Ought To Have Them In Your Home To Show Off Your Pictures!

By Robert Nichols

When it comes to personalizing your house there's no neater way to try this than to create a photo montage out of your favorite photos in addition to then exhibit them proudly on any or all walls in your home in Collage picture Frames.

Each collection of photos can be grouped together around a particular theme or occasion to provide an one of a kind artistic creation to brighten up a common plain wall, providing a great focal and debating point for your rooms.

Collage picture Frames would formulate exceptional personal gifts to give to family or chums to commemorate a special birthday, wedding anniversary or major life altering occasion. Making a photograph collage for your mother's's 70th birthday for instance would put together a very special present, you might collect as one fave photographs from big occasions in her life, then put them in a Collage picture Frame for her. Imagine her delight when she opens up her gift as well as discovers not only a attractive photo frame to treasure forever but an enduring precious memory made particularly for her by you.

Frames can be completed out of many different supplies plus in a giant spread or sizes, some frames can hold one 8 x10 photo as well as several 4 x six prints while others will hold footage of the same size. You can get frames completed of wood, acrylic, metal, or some are magnetic which would be great for making a photograph collage for the kitchen.

Now how do you go about creating a picture collage of your pictures one method I use is firstly to decide on a theme for the collage, as an example the initial few months of a new babies life. I might take say 3 fave pictures of the child in addition to mix them together using photograph editing software. The first picture would be a full image of the newly born to which I'd add a picture of the small feet and maybe a favorite toy, you'll choose to have all the photos in black and white in addition to then use spot coloring on parts of the photograph to draw the eye to the part in the photograph you wish to emphasize. When you have finished mixing your pictures just print out this photograph and add it to the main 8x10 opening on your frame, I might then print out individual pictures to co-ordinate with this one as well as put them into the remaining 4x6 openings.

You don't have to use photo editing software to make a collage, just putting separate photos into attractive Collage picture Frames will permit you to group and show your pictures in a singular manner. If however you do make a decision to use software to form your collages a large inexpensive Black picture Frame is the ultimate blank canvas for your creations. - 29888

How To Ensure Perfect Wedding Photos

By Dan Feildman

Your wedding is one of those moments in your life that you want to remember forever. Capturing that special day through photographs is one way you can keep the memories alive forever. Fortunately you have a variety of options to choose from when it is time to decide what kind of photographs you want to have taken for that important day.

Here is a guide in achieving the wedding photography of a couple's dreams:

1. Picking the right photographer to meet your needs Before you decide which photographer to choose you first want to decide on the type of photos you would like taken.

Portrait photographers are perfectly capable to take both formal and casual pictures, but he will most likely concentrate on the formal ones.

Photojournalists take shots that are candid and not planned. This kind of photographer usually has experience in journalism photography.

Hobbyist photographers are typically a friend or relative who would offer their service for a pretty low price. Unless they have taken wedding photos before you probably won't know what kinds of photos they will take and you do run the risk of having photos not turn out as well as what you would receive from a professional.

2. Using the right camera Professional wedding photographers usually use two basic camera types: the 35mm and the medium format. 35mm cameras may produce pictures that are a little grainy, but its usually only the photographer themselves that notice the difference. They also could use digital technology, which is preferred as the photos are ready to view much sooner and digital technology often produces better results.

3. Color or black and white photos? Color is what is typically used in wedding photos; however, black and white photos do lend a dramatic effect. Black and white photos will typically last longer than color photos, though color films capture the details of the event more appropriately. You can have your photos all taken in color and then converted into black and white once you have viewed the images.

4, Personality of the photographer Most couples want a photographer who can take great pictures but who is also friendly and sociable. Set an interview with the prospective photographer, and make sure to ask effective questions. Also, make sure to ask for references, and take a look at his previous work.

Following these tips will help couples get the perfect photos to preserve the memories of their special day. Great photos can be showcased proudly and passed down to future generations to cherish. - 29888

Taking Better Low Light Photos With Your Pink Digital Camera

By Corwin Graves

Becoming good at taking photographs doesn't happen overnight; it's a gradual process that requires a great deal of practice, and it requires that you ask a lot of questions. One of the most common questions that many photographers have is how to take better photos in low light situations? They often think that there is one particular camera that will allow them to capture spectacular low-light photos, though this isn't necessarily the case. It's understandable that people become frustrated when their camera hunts to gain focus in low light situations only to product an image that is ultimately undesirable. Regardless of the type of camera you own, there a few tips that can turn blurry and/or dark photos into clear and crisp shots that you will be proud of.

Because most people won't be interested in making an immediate upgrade to a DSLR camera, we will focus initially on the less expensive options. Before delving into the details, however, it's important to understand why some digital cameras suffer under low light conditions. In order to capture a photo on film or on a digital medium, the camera needs to activate the lens to open in order to allow light to come in.

Under low light situations, the camera must tell the lens to stay open for a longer period of time so that a sufficient amount of light can be captured to create an image. The problem is that once you allow the lens to remain open for more than a split second, any movements created by your hands or from external sources will affect the finished image, resulting in blurred or shaky images. Now that we have that out of the way, it's time to discuss some of the options available that will help you to improve your shots.

The most obvious answer is to invest in a tripod or other device to keep your pink digital camera in a fixed position during an exposure. Once your camera has been placed on a non-movable device, it's much less likely to be moved by your hands or from light winds. There are tripods available for nearly every camera type and many can be purchased for under $50.00. For those looking for something lighter or more portable there are several different options available, though these typically demand a higher price.

Apart from using a tripod to hold the camera still, another option for improving your low light photography is to increase the amount of available light through the use of your camera's internal flash. Although most point-and-shoot cameras weren't designed to light up a large room with their flash units, they are capable of providing sufficient light to illuminate the main subject of a photo in most cases. It is worth mentioning that a flash is not the best solution in all cases, and should never be used under very dark conditions. The reason being is that the flash will likely overexpose the main subject in the foreground and will underexpose the background. Small camera flashes in particular are not good at dealing with these extreme circumstances.

Apart from the tips mentioned above, another option may be to consider an upgrade to a digital SLR camera, since many of these cameras can accommodate larger flash units and faster lenses. Whatever method you choose to follow, it's important to understand the limitations of your current equipment. By knowing what your camera can and can't accomplish you will be in a better position to capture beautiful low light photos. - 29888

Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary with Adobe Photoshop

By David Peters

Are you looking for a way to improve how you take your pictures? Even if you have that ultra expensive SLR camera, you just can't seem to do what the professional photographers do best, which is to take professional looking photographs. You have all the latest photography accessories and still you can't take high quality pictures. You need to remember that before professionals develop the photos they take, they first edit it using a photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop basics.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular photo editing software programs available on the market today. The program is simple to learn and provides all the tools necessary to edit your digital photos to give them that professional quality.

If you want to make your subjects look model perfect you can simply use the smudge tool to edit out wrinkles, acne, or any other imperfection. You can even make people look thinner using the liquefy gallery in Adobe Photoshop. These are only a small part of the tools that professionals use to enhance their photographs.

Innovative Digital Camera Technology

By Dan Feildman

Daily we hear about new innovations in the technology field. Whether it is computers, televisions or cars, manufacturers continually come up with new and innovative ideas. There is nowhere this can be found better than with digital cameras. For many years now the American consumer has slowly switched from film cameras to digital since digital cameras produce clearer photos and provide the photographer with instant feedback as to how the picture turned out.

Today's digital cameras are light years different from their predecessor. Not only were film cameras bulky and produced lower quality images, they were entirely dependent on chemical processing for film development. More importantly, their size made them difficult for all ages to enjoy as children often had a difficult time handling them. And, as I mentioned, the images they delivered were not as crisp and clear as what digital technology has provided. Thankfully we no longer are tied to film and bulky cameras since with digital technology the cameras are smaller and allow users to manipulate their digital images through photo editing software.

The digital cameras after their invention have broken all the boundaries. They are smart, instant and high-tech. They are so easy-to-handle that even the kids can produce high quality photos from them. It does not take much to understand the working of the digital technology. They are the trend of the modern times ready to deliver all your needs, in just a few seconds.

Digital cameras work by using built-in sensors which record all the images electronically. No film is needed to capture images. Images are stored onto memory chips that are built into the camera as well as mini cards which can store as many as 2000 images. Users can easily transfer their digital images directly to their computer for printing or for editing. And, without a doubt, the best thing about digital cameras is that you can choose which photos you want to keep and which you want to discard as soon as the photo has been taken.

With their ease of use and high quality images, as well as the fact that there are no photo processing costs, digital cameras are incredibly popular. With their small, compact size and easy on the budget price, digital cameras are taking over the photo marketplace. They are emerging as a high quality and high performance alternatives of the traditional cameras.

It is difficult to believe that the basic components of both digital and film cameras are somewhat the same. Both cameras have a series of powerful lenses. These lenses focus the light in order to create an image of the particular object you want to shoot. The main difference between the two types of cameras is that instead of focusing light on a piece of a traditional film to capture the image, the digital camera focuses the light on a semiconductor device, which electronically records the light. A built-in computer then disperses this electronic info down into several digital data. All the interesting, fun and advanced digital cameras are the perfect results of this digital technology.

If you haven't already purchased a digital camera for yourself you might want to answer a few of the following questions to determine which camera will suit your needs the best. Why do you need a digital camera? Will you use it to earn a living for yourself? Will you upload your photos on the Internet and earn from them? Do you need the best quality digital camera? Are you an average user of digital camera seeking fun or a serious professional photographer? Once you have figured out your requirements you will be able to determine the type of digital camera that is best for you. - 29888

Buying A Killer Digital Camera Just Got Easy

By Sam Simms

It's easy to get a little overwhelmed when buying a digital camera, afterall there are hundred of cameras to choose from. The key to finding the perfect camera for your budget is to know a few things about what you're looking for.

Shop around. Make sure you spend time checking out the different stores and retailers and the different specials, packages, and prices they offer. There are so many digital cameras and retailers available to you, that with a bit of patience and hunting around you really can get a good deal. Also check online, most retailers will have bigger discounts online.

The pixel size of the digital camera is important as it will decide the resolution of a photo to be enlarged. However, better quality pictures (more mega pixels) will mean more storage space will be needed for your photos. And it will also take longer time for image display, transmission or process.

Every camera will come with some level of memory, usually 128mb. Unless you want to keep running back to your pc to download pictures, this is not going to be enough; the last thing you want to happen is the camera showing 'card full' when you see something amazing you want to photograph. It's a good idea to purchase at least one memory card. Also bear in mind higher quality pictures or pictures with more megapixels will take up more memory.

The zoom feature is also important. Some digital cameras have both digital and optical zooms. The higher the optical zoom the better. Optical zoom is always better than digital zoom. Optical zooms of between 3x and 10 x are better, the higher the optical zoom the better the digital.

The final decision in choosing the best digital camera, is to buy one that best fit you and the purpose for which it is intended. - 29888
